Sport have claimed that Real Betis and Barcelona will both have to wait to find out if they can sign Giovani Lo Celso as Ange Postecoglou first wants to take a closer look at the midfielder.
Earlier this week, we relayed a report from Estadio Deportivo which claimed that Betis are keen on bringing Lo Celso back to the club and are ready to launch a move for the player.
Meanwhile, La Vanguardia suggested a couple of days ago that Barcelona are also eyeing a move for the Argentine and are studying whether they could include Clement Lenglet in an operation to sign the midfielder.
Betis and Barcelona will have to wait for Lo Celso
Sport have now backed up the interest of both Beits and Barca in Lo Celso, stating that the former have made a ‘formal request’ for the player.
The report explains that even though the Catalan giants have not taken any concrete steps for the 27-year-old, he remains one of the options on Xavi Hernandez’s radar, with a loan move for the Spurs man said to ‘suit’ the La Liga champions.
However, the publication asserts that Postecoglou wants to take a closer look at the midfielder before making a decision on his future, which is why he is set to undergo a pre-season with Tottenham.
Sport add that ‘anything can happen’ with Lo Celso and ‘everything remains open’ with regards to his future at the moment, with the case now ‘paralysed’ until Tottenham make a decision on the former Villareal man.

Based on the players that feature a lot in pre-season, we will get a clear idea of who Postecoglou wants to take a closer look at and who he has already ruled out from being part of his plans.
There are plenty of midfielders vying for positions and it will be interesting to see whether Lo Celso is just there to train and get a few minutes, or really impress the new manager.
