Report: Potential Alderweireld replacement lined up but a move won’t happen yet

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen amid uncertainty over the future of Toby Alderweireld, according to the Evening Standard.

Spurs extended the Belgian’s contract earlier this season which triggered a £25million transfer release clause if an offer is made during the current window.

The North London club are unlikely to follow up on their interest in Andersen until they know the outcome of Alderweireld’s future at the club.

Anderson has also been heavily linked with a move to rivals Arsenal who would certainly be in a more favourable position to move for the Danish international considering that they are not hinging the move on the future of one of their players.

The report suggests that the central defender could also potentially see his future remain in Italy with Juventus among a number of Serie A clubs who known to be are admirers.

The 23-year-old is known for his ability to play the ball out of defence along with his pinpoint cross-field passes which Spurs fans have been accustomed to witnessing from Alderweireld in recent seasons.
