Calafiori has emerged as one of the best young defenders across Serie A, with the youngster’s versatility seemingly appealing to several sides across Europe.

Several reports over the last few weeks have stated that while a number of sides in Italy and abroad are eying the 21-year-old, it is Tottenham and Juventus who are at the front of the queue for his signature (CalcioMercato).

Last week, Alfredo Pedulla handed Spurs a blow by suggesting that the Italy star is likely to turn down advances from the Premier League as his preference is to remain in Serie A.

Romano has now taken to social media to state that Juve are now ‘focussed on advancing’ Calafiori as their next signing, having stepped up their pursuit.

In fact, he says that the Bologna star has already ‘said yes’ to move to the Allianz Stadium and is expected to soon agree on personal terms.

Talks are now reported to be ongoing between the two clubs, with the Bianconeri potentially set to include some of their players in the operation.

Tottenham are seemingly in a real pickle with respect to their centre-back pursuit, with their top targets – Tosin Adarabioyo, Lloyd Kelly, Riccardo Calafiori and Alessandro Buongiorno – all headed elsewhere. It remains to be seen who Spurs now turn their attention to.
