Report: Potential boost for Spurs as club ‘distance themselves’ from race for Vlahovic

In what comes as a potential boost to Tottenham’s pursuit of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, Goal.com have reported that Arsenal are no longer a serious contender for the 21-year-old.

If there were any doubts about whether Vlahovic would be able to replicate the sensational season he had last time out, the striker has well and truly put those concerns to rest.

The centre-forward has found the back of the net on 15 occasions in just 17 matches across all competitions for the Viola this campaign, and unsurprisingly, he is now thought to be on the radars of many clubs across Europe.

CalcioMercato reported a few days ago that the race for the Serbian international was between Spurs, Arsenal and Juventus.

However, it has since emerged that Manchester City have entered the race for the striker, with Pep Guardiola’s men thought to be ready to break the bank for him after missing out on Harry Kane in the summer.

If Goal.com’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs now have one less contender to worry about in the race for Vlahovic’s signature, with Arsenal no longer said to be involved.

The report claims that sources at the club have distanced themselves from suggestions they are serious contenders for the Fiorentina man.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Arsenal pulling out of the race for Vlahovic matters much to Spurs as I never thought our main competition for the striker was going to come from our rivals.

It is Juventus and Man City who I am worried about and if reports about City’s interest in the 21-year-old are true, then I expect them to win the race for the player.
