Report: Potential boost for Spurs fans who are hoping that Harry Kane stays

Manchester Evening News have claimed that Manchester United are operating under the assumption that Tottenham Hotspur will not sell Harry Kane this summer.

The report states that Harry Kane remains Erik Ten Hag’s preferred target, with the Dutchman said to be ‘obsessed’ with the Tottenham man.

So, while Man United have not ended their interest in the England captain, they are of the opinion that he would have to agitate to engineer a move away from N17.

The report adds that Daniel Levy has indicated that Kane will not be sold and the Old Trafford hierarchy do not want to ‘play games’ with the Spurs chairman as they fear he will drag out the negotiations.

The Red Devils are thus said to be actively pursuing other number nines at the moment, including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.

This update from MEN ties in with what was reported by 90 min a couple of days ago, with the outlet claiming that United are not optimistic about their chances of landing Kane this summer.

While some media outlets seem to think that Kane’s departure is inevitable, all the noises coming out of both Spurs and Man Utd over recent weeks suggest that the deal is unlikely to go through.

However, if the 29-year-old decides against signing a new contract this summer, Tottenham would have a difficult decision to make.
