Report: Potential boost for Spurs in Eberechi Eze race as Man United have one big problem

Tottenham may have received a boost in the race for Eberechi Eze, with The Daily Mail reporting that their rivals for the Crystal Palace star’s signature, Manchester United, only have a transfer kitty of £50m to play with this summer.

Spurs and Man United both want Eberechi Eze

While Eze has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent weeks, The Sun reported last Saturday that Ange Postecoglou’s men may have a fight on their hands for the attacking midfielder’s signature as he is also on the radar of Man Utd.

However, the report explained that Tottenham are ‘in the box seat’ to land the 25-year-old, with the Lilywhites having a good relationship with CAA Base, who represent the player.

A couple of days ago, Football Insider also credited the Red Devils with a keen interest in Eze and suggested that they would not allow him to move to Spurs without a fight.

Man United’s tough financial situation

However, The Mail have now handed Tottenham a boost by stating that United can only afford a total net spend of £50m this summer.

The report says that the Manchester club would thus have to offload some of their squad players first before making moves for their transfer targets.

Further, the outlet adds that Erik Ten Hag’s men are prioritising signing a new centre-back and a striker this summer, which potentially might allow Spurs to get a head start in the race for Eze.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is good news for Tottenham not just in the Eze front but also generally as United and us have been linked with many of the same players as us this summer.

The likes of Ivan Toney, Jarrad Branthwaite, Jean-Clair Todibo, Joshua Zirkzee and a few others are all rumoured to be on the radars of both clubs.
