Report: Potential boost for Spurs in the summer race for Pedro Neto

According to a report in The Athletic (David Ornstein Q&A), Arsenal are not willing to meet Wolves’ asking price for Pedro Neto, thus handing Tottenham a boost in the race for the Wolves star.

Several outlets over the last few weeks have indicated that the two North London clubs are expected to battle it out for Neto’s signature in the summer (The Sun).

This information was also backed up earlier this week by journalist Ben Jacobs, who told GiveMeSport that he expects the 23-year-old to either end up at the Emirates or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A couple of days ago, TEAMtalk alleged that Spurs might have an advantage over their local rivals in the race as the Lilywhites have a good relationship with the agency that represents the winger, Gestifute.

Arsenal are not willing to pay Pedro Neto fee

The Athletic have now revealed that the Gunners have baulked at the price tag Wolves have slapped on Neto ahead of the summer.

The report says that the West Midlands club do not want to lose their talisman and have thus demanded £80m from interested clubs.

It is alleged that even though Mikel Arterta’s men are keen on the Portugal international, they have no intention of paying £80m.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no chance that any club would pay £80m for Neto, given his injury record. Transfer fees are likely to continue to come down over the next few windows after the Premier League has decided to implement the PSR rules strictly and clubs will have to get used to the new normal.
