Report: Potential destination for Gareth Bale becomes impossible

Tottenham Hotspur and Jose Mourinho are said to be interested in bringing Gareth Bale back to White Hart Lane in 2020, with some reports even stating that the Welshman and the Special One have already held talks over such a move (El Desmarque).

It was reported last summer that Bale was close to a £1million-per-week deal, leaving Real Madrid to join Jiangsu Suning on a three year contract in the Chinese Super League (Guardian).

However, the move never materialised, as it was reported that the Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, blocked such a transfer (Telegraph).

It seems as if any chance of reigniting such a deal in 2020 is now dead in the water as Football London have reported that China have introduced wage caps of £2 million-per-year that make a Bale move ‘impossible’.

By removing one transfer avenue for the Welshman, could this open the door for a sensational Tottenham return in the New Year?
