Report: Potential Kane replacement not in favour of Spurs move

According to a report from Tuttosport (as relayed by Sport Witness), the prospect of moving to Tottenham Hotspur does not appeal to Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

With Harry Kane seemingly rebelling by not showing up for training in an effort to engineer a move to City, it has been suggested that Tottenham could look to replace the England captain with Martinez.

Reports indicate that the Argentine has only two years left on his contract with Inter Milan and that the Serie A giants have been unsuccessful in their efforts to tie him down to a new contract.

However, if TMW’s latest report is to be believed, the Lilywhites face a uphill battle in convincing Martinez to move to North London.

The report explains that Inter are open to cashing on the striker if they receive an offer of around €70m (£59.7m).

However, it is stated that the 23-year-old is not tempted by the prospect of a move to the Premier League this summer and would prefer to join a Spanish club instead.

One of the issues with losing Kane late in the window would be the difficulty in bringing in suitable replacements. I do not see how we would be able to get a deal for a player of Martinez’s quality over the line in a matter of weeks.

We are very much risking a situation similar to the 2008 summer transfer window when we ended up losing Berbatov on deadline day and signing Fraizer Campbell on loan.
