Report: Potential Nagelsmann boost for Spurs as another manager flies to London for talks

The Independent have revealed that Luis Enrique is now travelling to London to hold further talks with Chelsea regarding their managerial vacancy.

Multiple outlets had reported a few weeks ago that Enrique could be near the top of Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Antonio Conte (The Evening Standard and The Athletic).

However, the speculation linking the Spaniard with a move to Spurs has died down since then, with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Vincent Kompany now thought to head the North London club’s list (Daily Star).

Fabrizio Romano revealed a couple of days ago that both Enrique and Nagelsmann are also on Chelsea’s radar.

If The Independent’s latest update is to be believed, the Spaniard has now moved one step closer to potentially taking over as Chelsea boss.

The report states that Enrique impressed the Blues hierarchy in the first round of talks and successfully sold a clear vision for the team.

The 52-year-old allegedly explained how his high-intensity and pressing approach would fit with the young players that Chelsea currently have in their squad.

The West London club are said to have been impressed by Enrique’s tactical idea, with the former Barcelona boss now flying to England to hold further talks.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think this might be very good news for Spurs as it potentially means that Nagelsmann is not keen on talking over at Stamford Bridge.

However, that could be because the German is perhaps waiting for Real Madrid to come calling in the summer.

The one person who might be disappointed at this development is Paratici as the Italian was seemingly the one pushing Enrique’s case.
