Report pours cold water on claims Spurs had bid of around £20m accepted for defender

According to TeessideLive, Middlesbrough are yet to enter into advanced negotiations with any club over a deal for Djed Spence.

Spence spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, making 42 appearances and chipping in with two goals and five assists. (transfermarkt).

The England under-21 international’s pace and trickery helped inspire Forest to play-off final success and a return to England’s top flight after a 23-year absence (The Guardian).

Spence’s impressive form has seen him linked to a permanent move away from parent club Middlesbrough, with Forest reportedly one of the clubs keen to acquire the right wing-back on a permanent basis (Sky Sports).

The Guardian claimed yesterday that Spurs had agreed on a deal worth around £20million with the Championship outfit after Spence decided to snub a return to Forest.

TeesideLive have poured cold water on Spence nearing a move to north London after insisting that no clubs, including Spurs, have entered the final stages of talks with Boro.

Spurs Web Opinion

Although this may not be the news that Spurs fans want to hear, there is no reason to panic just yet. Spence is still away on international duty with England Under-21s (England Official), so nothing is likely to take off until he returns from action with the Three Lions.

Spence would be an exciting addition to Spurs’ squad and under Antonio Conte’s guidance, he could grow into a nightmare prospect for opposition full-backs.
