Report: Premier League boss is part of three-man Spurs manager shortlist

The Telegraph have claimed that Marco Silva is one of the leading candidates to replace Antonio Conte at the helm at Tottenham.

The report reveals that Marco Silva is part of Tottenham‘s three-man shortlist, alongside Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou and former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.

It is said that Daniel Levy is leading the managerial search and that the Spurs chairman is expected to explore all three options fully before making a final decision.

The Telegraph add that the North London club are expected to announce a new head coach before they resume their search for a new sporting director.

It is alleged that Silva, who has one year left to run on his contract at Craven Cottage, is currently in discussions with Fulham over a new deal after leading the club to an impressive tenth-place finish in the Premier League this season.

The publication adds that it is unclear whether the Cottagers would be prepared to deal with Spurs should the Portuguese coach wish to leave.

The release clause in the 45-year-old’s current contract is said to be around £6m.

Spurs Web Opinion

Silva has done an excellent job at Fulham and plays attacking football but his CV is distinctively average, which is why I am not sure why he would appeal to Tottenham.

The club would likely be aware that appointing the Portuguese coach will be perceived by the media and the fan base as an extremely unambitious move.
