Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has emerged as a late January transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Sky Sports claim that Spurs are keen on the Saints midfielder, who has been on the south coast since joining from Bayern Munich in 2016 for a reported transfer fee of £12.8million (BBC).

Hojbjerg is a Danish international, who has 26 senior caps to his name and has impressed during his time with Southampton.

Spurs have already conducted business with Southampton during the current window after it was confirmed yesterday that right-back Kyle Walker-Peters will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at St Mary’s.

Tottenham have already moved to recruit three midfielders this month having tied up a permanent deal for Giovani Lo Celso along with the capture of Steven Bergwijn and the 18-month loan deal which saw Gedson Fernandes arrive in North London from Benfica.

Hojbjerg has made 27 appearances for Southampton this season in all competitions, but is yet to score a goal (transfermarkt).
