Report: Premier League club slap hefty transfer fee on Spurs target amid financial woes

Football Insider have claimed that Nottingham Forest have put a £60m price tag on Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report backs up what we have heard over recent months from other sources by stating that Forest would have to sell some of their players before the end of June to avoid additional sanctions for breaching the Profit and Sustainability Rules.

It is revealed that one of the players who could be sacrificed is Gibbs-White, with the midfielder being one of the club’s most marketable assets.

The publication says that the 24-year-old is open to moving to a bigger club in order to improve his prospects of breaking into the England squad in the future.

Nottingham Forest want a hefty fee for Morgan Gibbs-White

The report names Tottenham and Newcastle United as two clubs who have shown interest in Gibbs-White and suggests that many other teams would follow suit.

However, it is explained that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have no intention of letting their star man leave on the cheap and have now told interested clubs to shell out £60m.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Gibbs-White is the alternative that Tottenham have identified to Conor Gallagher, with the Forest man also being homegrown and having quite a similar profile to the Chelsea captain.

However, clubs would be aware of Forest’s financial situation and I do not see anyone paying £60m for the 24-year-old despite the fact they have managed to practically retain their Premier League status
