Report: Premier League club close to deal for Spurs-linked striker

Tottenham Hotspur were among the clubs monitoring Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard ahead of the transfer window closing tomorrow night, according to the Daily Record.

The 23-year-old is within the last year of his contract at Parkhead and has been linked with a move ahead of tomorrow night.

Sky Sports (21:00 – 30/8) are reporting this evening that the striker is close to joining fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are said to be preparing to pay a fee between £15m and £20m for the 23-year-old who scored 18 goals in 31 league games for Celtic last season and has started the current campaign in similar form, having found the back of the net on two occasions in four Scottish Premiership matches.

Palace reportedly set their sights on Edouard after failing to agree a deal for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah (The Athletic).

SpursWeb Opinion

Tottenham have failed to bring in another forward to replace Carlos Vinicius, who returned to Benfica following the end of his loan spell last season. Given Harry Kane’s injury track record and the reliance on Heung-min Son to shoulder the goalscoring burden, there is no doubt that the club need to bring in a back-up before the window closes.
