The Independent have revealed that Chelsea are now considering a shock move to bring Antonio Conte back to the club.
Conte, who departed Spurs under a cloud two weeks ago, is said to be one of the names on Chelsea’s wishlist to replace Graham Potter.
The Independent explain that the West London club are in talks with Frank Lampard over taking over as interim head coach until the end of the season in order to buy some time in their search for a new head coach.
The report states that Chelsea are now considering opening discussions with Conte, who was the last manager to win a Premier League title at Stamford Bridge.
The club are said to be preparing for a ‘thorough process’ in identifying Potter’s successor and co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghali are keen to see what the recently departed Tottenham boss can bring.
Chelsea allegedly see Conte as a winner who can bring structure to the huge squad that they currently have.
The Independent add that the club have made initial contact through intermediaries with the Italian, and could organise a direct meeting next week if all goes well.

Conte would likely be interested in the job as he would want to prove on the back of his experience at Tottenham that his methods can work in the Premier League against the best coaches in the world.
However, I would be extremely surprised if Chelsea pushed ahead with a move for the 53-year-old.
