Report: Premier League club eyeing 26-year-old who left Spurs in May

According to Daily Mirror journalist James Nursey, Wolverhampton Wanderers are eyeing a potential move for former Tottenham striker Carlos Vinicius before the transfer window closes.

Vinicius did not get as many opportunities as he would have hoped for during his season-long loan spell at Spurs last summer as he played second fiddle to Harry Kane throughout the campaign.

Despite his lack of game time, the Brazilian certainly showed that he was capable of finding the back of the net, scoring on 10 occasions for the Lilywhites last season.

However, he did not do enough to convince Tottenham to take up the £36m option to sign him permanently.

It was reported in the Portuguese media earlier in the summer that Wolves could look to offer Vinicius a route back into the Premier League but nothing much came of the rumour.

If Nursey’s latest update is to be believed, the West Midlands club could now be back in the running for Vinicius.

The journalist stated that, with Pedro Neto is potentially out with an injury until the start of 2020, Bruno Lage has identified the Benfica striker as a potential option.

Vinicius did not really demonstrate enough for Spurs to warrant signing him permanently but it is worrying that we have not replaced the Brazilian. With question marks still surrounding Kane’s future, we might want to bring in two strikes before the window closes.
