Report: Premier League club eyeing replacement for rumoured Spurs target

Leicester City are reportedly considering a move for Burnley left-back Charlie Taylor with Ben Chilwell attracting interest from rivals clubs ahead of the summer window.

The Times reports that Chilwell is on Spurs’ wishlist in the summer transfer window, while Manchester City and Chelsea are also said to be courting the defender.

The 23-year-old has been one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League for the last couple of seasons and has also nailed down a place in the England side as Gareth Southgate’s first choice at left-back.

It is revealed that while Brendan Rodgers does not want to lose Chilwell he would have little choice if the club’s asking price for the Foxes’ academy product is met.

Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on rebuilding the Spurs backline in the summer, with left-back said to be one of the positions where the Spurs boss has prioritised new additions (the Express).

Spurs currently only have one senior left-back in Ben Davies, while Danny Rose’s long-term future in North London remains uncertain.

Chilwell will be an ideal addition as he can make the left-back at Spurs his own for several years to come. However, given the amount of interest in the full-back, I expect him to be out of our price range. If he has a good Euros with England in the summer, he could potentially be sold for a similar amount that Harry Maguire was.
