Report: Premier League club hold an interest in Tottenham midfielder

The Daily Mail have revealed that Aston Villa are considering a move for Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso this summer.

Lo Celso was not fancied by Antonio Conte, with the midfielder being loaned out to Villarreal just a couple of months after the Italian’s arrival at Tottenham back in 2021.

The midfielder has spent nearly 18 months at El Madrigal where he previously worked with Unai Emery and The Mail suggest that the Villa boss is still a big fan of the Argentine.

The Spaniard, who also worked with Lo Celso at Paris Saint-Germain, allegedly even discussed signing the Tottenham man when he was close to taking over at Newcastle United in 2021.

The report states that the Midlands clubs are keeping a ‘watchful eye’ on the 27-year-old’s performances in La Liga and have been impressed by some of his recent displays.

The Mail add that should Villa express a concrete interest in Lo Celso this summer, Tottenham ‘would be happy’ to sell the player as the North London club are looking to overhaul their squad.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would think that the decision on the likes of Lo Celso, Winks, Ndombele and Spence would be left with the incoming director of football or head coach.

Perhaps the new manager would want to assess these players during pre-season before making a decision on whether they can fit into his system.
