Report: Premier League club interested in signing Bergwijn on loan from Spurs

90 min have claimed that Newcastle United have been alerted to the availability of Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn.

Tottenham are reportedly looking to cash in on Bergwijn before the end of the month, with several clubs thought to be showing interest in the wide-man.

Ajax are alleged to be keen on bringing the 24-year-old back to the Eredivisie and are said to be in negotiations with Tottenham over a deal.

However, if 90min’s latest update is to be believed, Ajax now face competition from Newcastle for the Spurs man.

The report reveals that Bergwijn’s representatives are also looking at potential loan offers for his client and that a temporary move to St James’ Park could be on the cards for the player.

It is asserted that Eddie Howe is keen on bolstering his forward options after the injury to Callum Wilson and Bergwijn fits the bill for what he is looking for.

90 min also add that the Magpies know the Netherlands international’s entourage ‘well’.

Loaning Bergwijn to Newcastle might actually benefit all parties. Even if Conte does not see the 24-year-old as being part of his plans, Tottenham will likely be able to get a much bigger fee for him in the summer if the former PSV Eindhoven man proves himself at St James’ Park.
