Report: Premier League club keen to tie up £40m transfer deal to beat Tottenham

After two windows of complete inactivity, Tottenham are set to make several additions to their squad ahead of the first season at the new stadium.

Among the areas that Spurs wish to upgrade is centre midfield where the team has been short of numbers after the sale of Mousa Dembele in January.

With Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama being sidelined due to injuries for the majority of the season, Spurs have had to rely on Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks to play the majority of the games this season.

Among the players linked with a move to Tottenham is Youri Tielemans who is currently on loan at Leicester City from French club Monaco.

Tielemans has impressed during his time with the Foxes and has proved that he is more than capable of coping with Premier League football.

According to a report in the Mirror, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is urging Leicester to wrap up a £40million deal for Belgian international as he is concerned that other clubs might beat them to a deal.

The midfielder has said that while he is keen on making the move to Leicester permanent, he is also open to offers from other clubs in the summer.

£40 million certainly represents value for money in the current market given that Tielemens is only 21 years of age and has a lot of potential to grow as a player.
