Report: Premier League club make the first move for Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho

A report has indicated that Chelsea have made the first move in the pursuit of Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho ahead of the summer transfer window.

Coutinho has spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, but Sport claim that the Germans are not interested in the £105 million option-to-buy (Relayed by the Daily Mail).

As a result, Coutinho will return to Barcelona at the end of the season and Chelsea, Man United, Leicester, and Tottenham are all said to be monitoring the situation.

However, it is Chelsea who have apparently made the first move, with Sport stating that the Blues have already contacted Coutinho’s agent, Kia Joorabchian. They are also said to have a pre-existing strong relationship with the Brazilian’s representative.

It is also thought that Barcelona would now be willing to sell for as little as £53m, despite paying £92m more than that when they signed him from Liverpool.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs make their move for the playmaker.
