Report: Premier League club now ready to sell Spurs-linked star for £40m

The Daily Mail have claimed that Manchester United are ready to sell rumoured Tottenham target Harry Maguire for £40m this summer.

Strengthening at centre-back is reportedly one of Tottenham’s priorities this summer, with 90 min reporting a couple of weeks ago that Maguire is one of the names at the top of the North London club’s wishlist.

It was subsequently reported by The Telegraph that Harry Kane would welcome a move for the former Leicester star, with the pair said to have a close relationship from their time together with England.

However, the speculation linking the 30-year-old with a move to Spurs has died down recently, with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapoba and Wolfsburg’s Micky Van de Ven emerging as the Lilywhites’ top targets over the last few days (Fabrizio Romano).

Man United willing to slash Maguire price to £40m

The Mail have now claimed that Maguire is one of 13 players that Man Utd are willing to listen to offers for as they look to raise funds to aid their squad rebuild this summer.

It is asserted that Erik Ten Hag’s men would be happy to cash in on the centre-back if they receive an offer of £40m despite paying £80m to sign him from the Foxes back in 2019.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the reports over the last few weeks, it appears like Tottenham have shifted their attention from Maguire to younger, up-and-coming defenders such as Tapsoba, Van de Ven, Guehi and Adarabioyo.

That could be because the Lilywhites found the defender’s salary demands to be an issue, with the 30-year-old earning almost £10m a year at Old Trafford (Sportac).
