Report: Premier League club open loan talks for Tottenham player

Newcastle United have today commenced talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a loan move for Dele Alli, according to The Telegraph.

The 25-year-old was left out of Antonio Conte’s match day squad for yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea and was an unused substitute for the previous two Premier League fixtures against Watford and Leicester City (transfermarkt).

The report claims that the Magpies are pushing to sign as many as five players in the final week of the transfer window, with the Spurs man one of their targets.

Newcastle head into the international break currently 18th in the table following a 1-0 win against Leeds United on Saturday, and now look set to bolster their squad to avoid relegation.

Football Insider claimed last week that the England international has given the nod to joining Eddie Howe’s side.

A loan move is something which Dele desperately needs to give his career a much-needed kick-start, and with Newcastle not posing a threat to pushing for a European place this season it may allow Daniel Levy to sanction a move to a fellow Premier League side.
