Report: Premier League club put £20m asking price on Spurs-linked star

The Sun have claimed Burnley will demand £20m for Nick Pope this summer, who has been previously been linked with a potential move to Tottenham.

It was reported before the turn of the year that Pope was one of the options Tottenham were eyeing as Hugo Lloris’ long-term replacement (Daily Mail).

However, the Frenchman has since signed a two-year extension at Spurs and is likely to continue as the club’s number one next season.

Spurs could still be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer, with the club not expected to take up the option to sign Pierluigi Gollini permanently from Atalanta (Goal).

If The Sun’s latest update is to be believed, Antonio Conte’s men would have to pay £20m if they wish to land Pope.

The report reveals the price could come down even further if the Clarets get relegated this season and the goalkeeper would be tempted by a move away from Turf Moor should Sean Dyche’s men fail to preserve their Premier League status.

However, The Sun do not mention Tottenham as one of the contenders for Pope’s signature, stating instead that Fulham want to snap up the England international as the Cottagers now look set to win promotion to the top flight.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Pope would be on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer. Not only would the Burnley man want to be the guaranteed number one at his next club but I also do not see him as a good fit for a top club, given his shortcomings with the ball at his feet.
