Report: Premier League club showing interest in signing Spurs midfielder

Sky Sports have claimed that Newcastle United hold an interest in Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp.

Tottenham are expected to complete the signing of Emerson Royal from Barcelona before this evening’s deadline but the club have so far been unsuccessful in their late attempts to snap up a central midfielder.

Wolves’ Ruben Neves was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar but does not look likely to join with just hours left until the window closes.

While Spurs have been able to move Moussa Sissoko on, they have been unsuccessful in their attempts to find a buyer for Tanguy Ndombele, which could have potentially been a major factor in the club’s inability to sign a midfielder.

However, Sky Sports have suggested that another one of Spurs’ midfielders in Skipp could be on his way out.

The report claims that the 20-year-old, who has started all of Tottenham’s first three games of the season, is subject of interest from the Magpies.

It is not mentioned whether Steve Bruce’s side are looking to sign the Spurs academy graduate on loan or on a permanent deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be amazed if we let Skipp go out on loan, particularly given that we have not been able to sign a central midfield player this summer.

Skipp has made an impressive start to the campaign and he clearly seems to have won Nuno’s trust. The 20-year-old will only get better as he grows in confidence with more game time.
