Report: Premier League club submit £21m offer for striker linked with Spurs

Sky Sports have revealed that Aston Villa have increased their offer for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur striker Callum Wilson to £21 million after seeing their previous £15m bid rejected by Bournemouth.

Some reports have claimed that Wilson is one of the names on the top of Tottenham’s wishlist as they continue to search for a suitable backup to Harry Kane (Express).

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed recently that while Spurs did make an approach for Wilson, they are unlikely to follow through with their interest in the striker, having turned their attentions to other options.

While Sky Sports does name Tottenham as one of the clubs interested in the England international, they reveal that Aston Villa and Newcastle are currently leading the race for his signature.

Apart from Villa’s most recent offer, it is revealed that Newcastle have also made a bid of around £20m for Wilson, with the striker said to prefer a move to St James’ Park.

It is suggested that the Cherries’ interst in Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie might potentially give the Magpies an advantage in the race for Wilson’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Multiple reliable sources are now reporting that Wilson is likely to join either Newcastle or Aston Villa and so it does look like we have turned out attention elsewhere. Given that a striker is next on the agenda for Spurs, it is strange that we do not seem particularly close to completing a move for any of our rumoured targets. Unless we are doing a great job of keeping a deal under wraps, that suggests that we are not close to finalising any deal.
