Report: Premier League club will resist bids from Spurs for star duo

Having not added to their squad for the last two transfer windows, it is expected that Tottenham will spend big this summer ahead of what will be their first full season at the new stadium.

There are several areas where the club needs to strengthen including the defensive line with Toby Alderweireld expected to leave the club due to his £26million transfer release clause that can be activated if a bid is received before the last two weeks of the upcoming window.

Tottenham have been linked with several centre-halves as well as full-backs including the Leicester City pair of Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Leicester will resist all bids for their players in the summer and will do all they can to hold on to their young stars.

The report claims the Foxes owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, as well as the club’s manager Brendan Rodgers, are confident they can hold on to their star men amidst interest from the likes of Spurs, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

While Spurs were always unlikely to have secured the signings of Chilwell and Maguire, it now looks like they will have a hard time trying to sign James Maddison too, who is reported to be the club’s preferred choice to replace Eriksen if he leaves for Spain.
