Report: Premier League club will try to fight off Spurs interest and keep star player

The Standard have revealed that Everton will try to resist Tottenham Hotspur’s attempts to swoop for centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

Branthwaite has had an exceptional debut season in the Premier League and unsurprisingly, he is now thought to have emerged as a target for several top clubs in the division.

The Standard have now backed up what we have heard from other sources over recent weeks by stating that both Spurs and Man Utd are eyeing moves for the central defender.

Everton want to keep Jarrad Branthwaite

However, the report says that the Merseyside club will look to fight off interest from both the Lilywhites and the Red Devils as they wish to hang on to their academy graduate.

The outlet adds that the England international is open to leaving Goodison Park and is valued at £80m.

However, having secured their Premier League safety, Sean Dyche’s men now allegedly do not want to entertain offers for the defender.

Branthwaite is definitely out of Tottenham’s price range, with Ange Postecoglou’s men only looking for a backup at central defence rather than a big-money signing.
