Report: Premier League club would consider offer for Spurs-linked winger

The Athletic have revealed that Newcastle United are expected to consider any offers they receive for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Allan Saint-Maximin this summer.

The Sunday People (19/2, Page 62) reported last month that Saint-Maximin has been on Tottenham’s radar for ‘some time’ and that the North London club had considered making a move for him in the January transfer window.

The report added that the Lilywhites could make a concrete attempt t snap up the pacy winger when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

While looking into Newcastle’s summer plans, The Athletic have now suggested that Saint-Maximin could be offloaded to make way for new signings.

The report explains that while the Frenchman does offer a unique attacking threat, his shortcomings off the ball make him a poor fit for Eddie Howe’s high-pressing style of play.

The publication suggests that the Magpies will thus at least listen to any offers that come their way for the former Nice man. However, The Athletic do point out that Newcastle have not taken any ‘concrete decisions’ on who will be moved on yet.

Respected journalist Alasdair Gold revealed in January that Fabio Paratici is a big fan of the Newcastle wide man, who is under contract on Tyneside until 2026 (Football.London).

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Tottenham’s interest in Saint-Maximin is likely driven by Conte as the Italian has publicly talked about the team needing more players who are good in one vs one situations.

I doubt that the likes of Traore or Saint-Maximin would still be on Spurs’ radar if either he or Paratici departs at the end of the season.
