Report: Premier League club’s offer for Spurs-linked teenager rebuffed

The Daily Mail has reported that Northampton have turned down Aston Villa’s offer for teenager Caleb Chukwuemeka, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

The 19-year-old made his first-team bow for the club last season, going on to score twice in 28 appearances in all competitions but he was not able to stop the club from being relegated from League One back to League Two.

Football Insider reported back in April that Tottenham were contemplating a move for the Northampton youngster, with former manager David Pleat, who now works as an adviser to Tottenham, actively involved in checking out the striker for the club.

The Daily Mail have now also backed up Spurs’ interest in Chukwuemeka, revealing that the versatile forward had ‘caught the eye’ of scouts from the North London club.

The report reveals that the Lilywhites are competing with Villa and Newcastle for the Northampton starlet, with the Villans being the first club to make an offer.

Despite the youngster’s contract running out in January, the Cobblers have resisted the opening offer from Dean Smith’s side.

Given that we have two promising young forwards coming through in Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott, one would not expect us to get involved in a bidding war for Chukwuemeka.
