Report: Premier League duo leading race to sign Tottenham midfielder on loan

Everton and Aston Villa are currently ready to battle it out to sign wantaway Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, according to a report from CaughtOffside.

Winks, 25, has found himself firmly out of contention in North London, and even admitted that it was difficult to maintain form and confidence when minutes were few and far between.

He has played just six games in all competitions for Spurs this season, with the majority of them coming in the Europa Conference League.

CaughtOffside report that Winks is keen to seek a move away from the club in the January transfer window, but a potential deal would only see him leave on loan.

The report claims that Everton and Aston Villa are the front-runners for the midfielder’s signature, while Brighton are starting to emerge as a potential third suitor.

However, it adds that the aforementioned duo are primed to do battle with each other, as they are both keen to bolster the quality in depth in their respective squads.

A move for Winks looks firmly on the cards which will be good for him, even as a loan. He has fallen way down the pecking order to the point where he is no longer an option from the bench, which is tough to see considering how instrumental he was in midfield not that long ago.

It remains to be seen whether Winks will be given a fresh opportunity to impress with Nuno having now left the club.
