Report: Premier League keeper is ‘aware’ Spurs are looking for Lloris successor

The Evening Standard have revealed that Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is aware that Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs who are likely to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the summer.

Multiple outlets have claimed over recent months that Tottenham are expected to be in the market for a new goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris in the summer, with Premier League trio Jordan Pickford, David Raya and Robert Sanchez thought to be on the club’s wishlist (Daily Mail).

The likes of Napoli’s Alex Meret (La Repubblica via Calcio Napoli 24) and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak (Standard) have also been mooted as potential replacements for Lloris over the last few weeks.

If The Evening Standard’s latest update is to be believed, Mendy is eyeing a potential switch to Spurs next summer. The report states that Chelsea are expected to have a summer clear-out, with the Senegal international one of the players likely to be offloaded by the club.

It is said that the 30-year-old turned down a contract offer from Graham Potter’s men last summer and is aware that Spurs, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are ‘likely’ to be in the market for a new goalkeeper.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think there is any chance that Tottenham would consider Mendy as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris. I believe that Spurs will have their eyes on the likes of Pickford and Raya, with both the Everton and Brentford goalkeepers set to enter the final year of their respective contracts in June.
