Report: Premier League manager is now ‘out of the running’ for Spurs job

Football Insider have reported that Roberto De Zerbi is now out of the running to become the next Tottenham manager, according to sources.

It is said that Spurs are still expected to sack Antonio Conte in the near future, although fans are still awaiting official confirmation a week on from his controversial press conference.

The same publication reported that Tottenham were ‘hugely impressed’ by the work De Zerbi has done at Brighton, but have ruled him out of their search nonetheless.

There are a number of reasons for this decision, with one being the emergence of Julian Nagelsmann on the market following his sacking at Bayern Munich.

Spurs allegedly view the German as a more ‘elite manager’ than De Zerbi, while Nagelsmann would also be cheaper due to the Brighton boss’ contract situation.

De Zerbi is said to be happy at Brighton, and Spurs have made Nagelsmann their number-one managerial target (FootballInsider).

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is interesting because De Zerbi would be near the top of my wishlist if Tottenham wanted a manager currently working in the Premier League.

Not to mention the fact he would probably be up for a long-term project.

However, many fans will now be angry at anything less than Nagelsmann.
