Tottenham are lining up a potential move to sign Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs have made a good start to the summer transfer window by bringing in Ivan Perisic on a free transfer, while Fraser Forster is expected to arrive as the club’s new back-up goalkeeper (Evening Standard).
But they are not stopping there and are thought to be in the market for a new man in the centre of the pitch after hearing the requests of head coach Antonio Conte (Telegraph).
And the Daily Mail has reported a list of names Spurs have placed on their radar as the countdown to pre-season continues, suggesting Southampton’s Ward-Prowse is in their line of sight.
Ward-Prowse enjoyed a productive campaign in what was a difficult season for the Saints, recording 10 goals and five assists (Transfermarkt) as Ralf Hasenhuttl’s side finished the year 15th in the Premier League table.
Spurs Web Opinion
Ward-Prowse is a solid asset but the question is whether he is good enough to turn out in midfield for Spurs consistently. He has shown he can do a decent enough job for a side hovering around mid-table, so he could be a good option to bring in in terms of adding more squad depth – it just depends on the price.
