Report: Premier League newcomer is on Tottenham’s radar along with Man Utd

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have added Norwich City’s highly rated 21-year-old Ben Godfrey to their transfer shortlist (Daily Mail).

Manchester United are also said to be keen on the versatile youngster who can operate as a centre back or holding midfielder.

The England U20 international played a pivotal part in the Canaries Championship-winning campaign and his displays in midfield are reported to have attracted the attention of Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs are currently a midfielder short following the sale of Mousa Dembele to China in January and have also been linked with a move for Lyon’s highly sought after French international Tanguy Ndombele (The Mirror).

Godfrey spent a season on loan at Shrewsbury Town during 2017-18 which saw him help the club to make the EFL Trophy final and League One play-off final and gained valuable first-team football experience before heading back to Carrow Road.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand mentors Godfrey and has recommended him to his former employer and would be available for around £15million (The Sun).

Opinion

While Godfrey has had an impressive season in the Championship if Spurs are going to make significant strikes forward and compete for silverware next season they need to be prioritising a deal for Ndombele ahead of anyone else.
