Report: Premier League rival competing with Spurs for striker’s signature this month

According to a report from Calciomercato, Wolves are set to challenge Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuit of Diego Costa during the January transfer window.

Atletico Madrid recently terminated Diego Costa’s contract, which was due to run until the end of the season and the 32-year-old is now a free agent.

Previous reports have claimed that Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with the Spanish international in North London.

It was claimed that Spurs were competing with Napoli, Everton and Fenerbahce for the former Chelsea man’s signature.

Spanish news outlet, La Razon even suggested last month that the Lilywhites were the favourites to land the experienced striker’s signature

Calciomercato now report that Wolves are also ready to push Spurs for the signing of Costa, while Saudi Arabian sides Al-Hilal and Al-Shabab Riyad are also keen on landing him.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that most clubs around the world are cash-strapped due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is understandable why Costa would be sought after by many clubs. I believe that the striker would still be an asset to us but his arrival would certainly not be good news for Carlos Vinicius, who has struggled for game time over recent months.
