Report: Premier League rival set to make January move for Spurs star

Tottenham Hotspur managed to retain the services of Christian Eriksen for a few more months after the European transfer window closed without a deal.

The Dane’s future in North London has been the subject of much speculation over the course of the summer after he revealed in June that he wanted to seek a new challenge away from the club whilst admitting that he would welcome interest from Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

The Sun are reporting that Manchester United are preparing to make a move for the 27-year-old in January.

United were linked with a move for the playmaker with the BBC claiming that talks were held between both parties only for the Old Trafford outfit to believe that he had his heart set on a move to Spain.

After a move to La Liga failed to materialise, United could be set to try and persuade him to make the move north. However, Eriksen is said to be uncomfortable at the prospect of Spurs not receving a transfer fee if he walks away for free next summer.

Given the fact that Eriksen’s contract expires this summer, Spurs would not be in a position to demand a hefty fee for the former Ajax player.
