According to reports from Italy, Liverpool are now the front runners to land Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly, who is also said to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Spurs reportedly made a move to sign the Napoli star in the January transfer window (Eldesmarque) but ultimately fell short in their efforts.
Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, offered an encouraging update this week when he suggested that a move to Spurs is still very much on the cards for the defender as there is a ‘good feeling’ between Koulibaly’s agent and Daniel Levy (Sky Sports Q and A).
It now appears that the Reds have made some progress in their negotiations as Gazzetta Dello Sport (as relayed by the Daily Mail) have installed Jurgen Klopp’s side as the favourites to land the Senegal international.
The report reveals that Napoli are not willing to listen to any offers below their £89m asking price, which sounds as if it may put Tottenham out of the running for his signature.
Spurs Web Opinion
Koulibaly is the best centre-half who will be available in the market this summer and thus a lot of clubs are likely to be after him. We are better off concentrating on more realistic targets as I cannot see us paying the kind of money it would require to land the Napoli star.
