Report: Premier League rivals make former Spurs boss their number one target

Sky Sports have revealed that Mauricio Pochettino is Manchester United’s number one target to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Pochettino was linked with a return to Tottenham over the summer before the North London club confirmed Nuno Espirito Santo as Jose Mourinho’s replacement.

The Argentine ended up staying in Paris and has since penned a contract extension with the Ligue 1 giants, with his current deal now running until the summer of 2023.

Over recent weeks, the former Spurs boss has been linked with the Manchester United hot-seat.

The Red Devils parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the weekend following their 4-1 loss to Watford and have put Michael Carrick in charge on an interim basis.

Sky Sports have now revealed that United continue to have their eye on Pochettino despite the fact that the Argentine has over 18 months left on his contract with PSG.

The report explains that the former Tottenham manager is United’s number one target ahead of Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag, who is also thought to be on the radar of the Old Trafford hierarchy.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would hate to see Pochettino go to United, not just because I still hold hope that he could return to Spurs in the future but also because I believe the Argentine would turn around their fortunes and get them competing at the top. In many ways, I see Pochettino as a perfect fit for what United need and so, I am hoping that he decides to stay put in Paris.
