Report: Premier League rivals offer three-year contract to Spurs target

Sky Sports have revealed that Arsenal have moved to the front of the queue for Willian’s signature this summer after offering him a three-year contract.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Tottenham with reports previously indicating that Jose Mourinho wanted to be reunited with the winger he originally brought to Chelsea in 2013 (Mundo Deportivo).

It was reported earlier this week that the 31-year-old had rejected Chelsea’s latest contract offer (Fabrizio Romano) to extend his stay with the Blues.

Sky Sports now claim that Chelsea will not offer the three-year contract that Willian is said to be demanding and are only willing to extend his stay by two years.

The report suggests that Arsenal are now the favourites to land the former Makhachkala man this summer, with fellow Brazilian, Edu (Arsenal’s technical director) playing a key part in negotiations.

It is claimed that the Gunners have made a formal three-year contract offer to Willian but their terms are said to be some way short of the offers made by Barcelona and Inter Miami.

Spurs Web Opinion

If it is true that three clubs have offered a contract to Willian but we have not moved as of yet, that indicates that the Brazilian is not a target for us this summer. While we seem fairly well stocked in the wide areas, I would not be surprised to see us bring in another winger this summer, especially if Jose is planning to adopt something similar to a 4-3-3 more regularly.
