Report: Premier League rivals could enter race for Gareth Bale’s signature

Tottenham Hotspur could face competition for Gareth Bale’s signature this transfer window after The Daily Star claimed that the Manchester United could be set to enter the race for the Welshman.

Bale has admitted that he would be open to a return to the Premier League, with reports from Spain suggesting that Real Madrid are hopeful Spurs will make an offer to re-sign him as they are desperate to see him leave (Ok Diario).

The Daily Star suggest that the Red Devils could turn their attentions to the Real Madrid star if they are not able to land Jadon Sancho this summer.

It is said that the United are finding it increasingly difficult to complete a deal for Sancho with Borussia Dortmund not willing to budge on their £108million asking price.

The report suggests that the Old Trafford hierarchy are preparing to turn their attentions to Bale, having failed with an offer to sign the former Tottenham star last summer.

It is reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men would prefer to sign Bale on a loan deal and are hopeful that Madrid would pay half of his salary.

If reports are true and Madrid are indeed willing to pay half his salary to loan him out, one suspects plenty of sides will show interest in signing Bale. This is why I believe the chances of us re-signing him this transfer window are slim, although I would expect Levy to test the waters with a later offer.
