Report: Premier League side close to sealing deal for player linked with Spurs

Tottenham broke their year and a half hiatus from signing players yesterday by securing the services of Jack Clarke from Leeds United and Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, the latter for a club record fee of £55 million (Independent).

Reports indicate that the Lilywhites are going to stop there as it is claimed that Pochettino wants to strengthen the midfield further this summer (Sports Mole). However, a lot will depend on whether Christian Eriksen ends up staying or leaving to join Real Madrid (Marca).

One of the midfielders that Spurs were linked with extensively earlier in the window is Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans but it now looks like the midfielder is close to joining Leicester City.

Leicester Mercury report that the Foxes are continuing to negotiate with Monaco for the 22-year-old and negotiations could soon reach a conclusion.

This has also been reported by Sky Sports. It is claimed that the Belgian international is keen to sign for Leicester on a permanent deal after his successful loan spell with the club last season.

Ndombele’s signing certainly makes a move for Tielemans unlikely given that the club already have the likes of Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier who can play in central midfield. It is possible that the Belgian international was a back up the club had identified in case they couldn’t get Ndombele.
