Report: Premier League star could cost Tottenham £30m in wages alone

If Tottenham Hotspur are to sign Eberechi Eze in the summer, the Crystal Palace winger could cost the Lilywhites around £30m in wages, before any bonus is added on and that’s without considering his transfer fee.

With Tottenham in the hunt for a new winger come the summer, a number of names have been mooted as possible targets for Ange Postecoglou already.

One man who many believe would be perfect for Spurs is Eberechi Eze, who is rightly regarded as Crystal Palace‘s brightest talent.

It is thought Tottenham are looking at Eze and Wolves’ Pedro Neto ahead of the summer transfer window as possible options to bolster the squad (Independent). However, Spurs will have to battle Manchester City for Eze (Daily Mail).

Eze’s performance against Spurs at the weekend, where he scored a wonderful free-kick to give his side the lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, will have done little to deter the Lilywhites.

Eberechi Eze will not be cheap for Spurs

Naturally, signing a player of Eze’s talent will not be a cheap operation for Spurs, and sources at Tottenham Hotspur News have revealed it could cost the North London side at least £30m in salary fees to sign the 25-year-old.

Apparently, a contract worth “a minimum of £120,000 per week across a five-year deal” will be required to get Eze to sign on the dotted line and move across London. That equates to “£31.2 million in basic wages” before you bring bonus payments and add-ons into the calculations.

That is a pretty big contract, even by Spurs standards, but you’d have to imagine Eze would be a starter for Postecoglou’s side and would definitely be the kind of player we are looking for. His transfer fee will be huge too, though, so I’m not sure we will pay out.
