Report: Premier League star wants a summer transfer after January links with Spurs

According to Anfield Watch, rumoured Tottenham target Joe Gomez wants to leave Liverpool at the end of this season.

Gomez has been at Liverpool for nine years and has been a key player for the club right through the Jurgen Klopp era.

It was reported by The Daily Mail (via 90 min) last month that Tottenham had enquired about the Englishman’s availability during the January transfer window, with Ange Postecoglou said to be an admirer of the 26-year-old, owing to his versatility.

However, the Reds allegedly knocked back Spurs’ advances, making it clear that he would not be allowed to leave the club.

Joe Gomez is expected to be on the move this summer

However, Anfield Watch have now said that the defender wants to say his goodbyes to the Reds this summer and is ready to follow Klopp out of the door.

It is revealed that the England international is open to a fresh challenge and he has told Liverpool to listen to any ‘reasonable offers’ that come their way.

The publication adds that the Charlton academy graduate would prefer to return to London if the right opportunity opens up.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gomez is perfect for Postecoglou’s system, given his pace and technical quality. The fact that he can fill in at centre-back as well as right-back, is homegrown and has plenty of Premier League experience, should make him an extremely tempting option for Tottenham.
