Report: Premier League striker is still of interest to Tottenham ahead of the summer

While Arsenal may have seemingly pulled out of the race to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be still keen on the England striker and could make a move for him in the summer transfer window.

Ever since Harry Kane’s departure from Spurs last summer, it has been heavily suggested that Ivan Toney could be the man to replace him at the North London club.

We spoke to Stephen Carr this week about the dilemma of replacing Kane, and the former Spurs full-back explained that is a near-impossible task.

This season, the Lilywhites have instead relied on the attacking returns of Heung-min Son and Richarlison to carry them through, but it is believed Ange Postecoglou will look to bring in a new striker this summer.

Toney himself has made no secret of the fact he is interested in leaving Brentford at the end of the season, telling Sky Sports that his current club could make some money this summer with his sale.

And, according to Alasdair Gold, with Arsenal now seemingly out of the picture, a switch to Spurs could be perfect for all parties involved.

Spurs are still keen on Ivan Toney

The latest from Football Insider suggests Tottenham are very much still interested in Ivan Toney ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is thought the fact that London rivals Arsenal have cooled their interest has “opened the door” for Spurs to push on and make the switch happen. Apparently, Lilywhites boss Ange Postecoglou is “keeping close tabs” on Toney.

The report claims Chelsea are also in pursuit, but would need to sell multiple players to be able to “legally finance” that deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

I really don’t know how I feel about the idea of us signing Ivan Toney. He’s a great goalscorer, but something about his attitude just makes me feel uneasy, and I don’t know if he is the right personality for this team Postecoglou is building.
