Report: Premier League winger tells friends that he wants to join Spurs this summer

Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser is keen on joining Tottenham on a free transfer this summer, according to a report in Football Insider.

Fraser’s contract with the Cherries runs out at the end of this season and the report claims that several Premier League clubs are locked in a battle for the Scotland international. However, it is claimed that Fraser has told friends that he wants to move to Spurs.

Fraser was in explosive form for Eddie Howe’s side last season, managing seven goals and fourteen assists in the Premier League (transfermarkt.com).

The 26-year-old ended up staying at Vitality Stadium despite apparent Arsenal interest and his return this season of one goal and four assists in twenty-one starts (transfermarkt.com) is far less impressive.

Despite this, Spurs have not been put off from trying to bring him to North London with the report asserting that the Lilywhites don’t want to miss out on a free transfer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would have loved for us to snap up Fraser last summer but his decline this season does put question marks over whether his form in the 2018/19 season was a one-off. However, the entire Bournemouth side has underperformed this season and so perhaps it’s harsh to single him out. Besides, I’m sure he was expecting to move last summer rather than seeing out the final year of his contract at Bournemouth. As we’ve seen with Eriksen, it can be quite difficult for players to continue performing under those circumstances. While Fraser is certainly not going to set the world alight, he could be a useful squad player for us.
