Report: Price tag named for Spurs target Alex Scott – Two PL rivals also interested

The Sun have revealed that West Ham United and Crystal Palace are set to enter the race to sign Bristol City starlet, Alex Scott, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Scott is rated by many as the best young talent in the Championship at present, with the 19-year-old having started all but one game in the league for Bristol so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The versatile midfielder’s performances have seemingly alerted top-flight clubs, with reports indicating during last month’s transfer window that Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs who were eyeing a move for the player (Ben Jacobs).

Football Insider revealed a few days ago that scouts from Tottenham are continuing to watch Scott this season and have been left impressed by the youngster.

The report added that the scouts have asked the North London club’s hierarchy to lay the groundwork for a deal for the midfielder before other Premier League clubs swoop for him.

If The Sun’s latest update is to be believed, Palace and West Ham have now also checked on Scott recently.

However, the publication adds that Bristol have slapped a £20m price tag on the England Under-20 international, which neither the Eagles nor the Hammers are likely to pay.

Spurs Web Opinion

The only way it would make sense for Spurs to pursue Scott is if the North London plan on signing the teenager and loaning him back out to Bristol or another Championship club.

Conte is understandably hesitant to trust players who are not proven at the top level and so it would not be in anyone’s interest to see a repeat of the Djed Spence situation.
