Journalist reveals agreement for Spurs player exit ‘now close to be reached’

The Athletic have claimed that Tottenham are expected to reach an agreement with Celtic over the transfer of Joe Hart, while Fabrizio Romano has gone as far as to say that an agreement is close to being reached.

Tottenham snapped up Hart as a free agent last summer but the experienced goalkeeper failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League last campaign.

Spurs confirmed last week that Pierluigi Gollini has signed on a season-long loan deal, with the Italian expected to offer competition to Hugo Lloris.

Football.London reported following Gollini’s arrival that Nuno Espirito Santo had informed Hart that he was no longer part of his plans before Fabrizio Romano revealed that Celtic had opened talks with the North London club over a deal for the 34-year-old.

The Athletic now explain that Hart had no desire to serve as Tottenham’s third choice and would thus be in favour of a move to Celtic Park.

The report adds that the Scottish giants are expected to get the deal over the line and are hopeful that Hart will challenge for the number one spot next season.

Romano claimed that negotiations between Hart and Celtic are progressing and an agreement is close to being reached, with Spurs happy to let him leave to save money on his salary.
