Report provides big update on Tottenham’s pursuit of a sporting director

The Daily Mail have reported that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to confirm a new sporting director shortly.

It has now been two and a half months since Fabio Paratici resigned from his role as Tottenham’s managing director of football after his worldwide 30-month ban was upheld but the North London club are yet to appoint a successor.

Despite not filling the vacancy, the Lilywhites have started pushing ahead with their transfer plans for the summer, with Alasdair Gold revealing via Football.London recently that the club’s chief scout, Leonardo Gabbanini, is playing an increasingly prominent role in recruitment decisions.

It was suggested by CBS Sports journalist Ben Jones on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube Channel a couple of weeks ago that is a growing feeling that Tottenham may look within the Premier League for their next sporting director.

Technical director to be appointed soon at Spurs

If The Mail’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs are not far from confirming Paratici’s replacement, with the publication claiming that the Lilywhites will confirm a technical director ‘soon’.

The report states that the search is being carried out by the recruitment agency Nolan Partners and an announcement is expected once the process is completed.

With Scott Munn being appointed as chief football officer to oversee the big-picture decisions regarding the academy and the culture at the club, I fully expect Spurs to appoint a head of recruitment rather than a conventional technical director with a broad role.
